This ceremony rewards the best films produced the year before, it is also long awaited for its famous red carpet. It is then the occasion for the public to discover the looks of stars concocted for the event, always more breathtaking.

This year, our black beauties wowed us on the Oscars red carpet. Here are our favorites among those who were at the heart of the ceremony.

Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett shone brightly on the red carpet. The actress was nominated in the Supporting Actress category for her performance in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Angella Bassett previously won a Golden Globe for this performance. Aged 64, the actress has played many iconic roles in her thirty-year career. Angela Bassett wore a purple Moschino dress for the second Oscar nomination of her career. She was also the very first actress to be nominated for a role in a Marvel Studios film.

Halle Bailey

The American singer and actress wore a blue Dolce & Gabbana creation reminiscent of the marine world and the Little Mermaid that she will soon embody in the cinema. Moreover, the trailer for this film was broadcast in preview on the occasion of this 95th edition. At 22, Halle Bailey is the first black woman to play the lead role in a Disney live action. This low bun of locks looks great on her, doesn’t it?

Time

Singer and songwriter Tems is making history by becoming the first Nigerian artist to be nominated for an Oscar. His contribution to “Lift Me Up”, the soundtrack of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever by Ryan Coogler, interpreted by Rihanna, is at the origin of this. Tems left us speechless with her gorgeous white Lever Couture dress. The most breathtaking look of the evening nevertheless caused a lot of talk for its imposing side and disturbing the visibility of other guests.

Translation : “Imagine you’ve waited your whole life to be at the Oscars and today you’re sitting behind a stratus cloud”

Danai Gurira

The actress of the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was present to support the 5 nominations of this one. Danai Gurira also brought singer Rihanna’s performance to the stage. The actress paid a moving tribute to Chadwick Boseman before the song “Lift Me Up” rounded it out. The black Jason WU dress, simple and classy, was enhanced with a layered bun, created by hairstylist Larry Sims, the centerpiece of the look. Danai Gurira is one of the figures of short and natural hair in Hollywood, as did another Black Panther actress, Laeticia Wright, who opted to go natural last year. We also think of the inspiring Lupita Nyong’o, with whom she produced the mini-series Americanah. So, would you let yourself be tempted by this original bun?

Rihanna

The Barbadian singer gave us a great live performance. She interpreted her title “Lift Me Up”, nominated for this Oscar ceremony. Pregnant with her second child, Rihanna is back on the front of the stage, a month after her performance during the Super Bowl. It was his first Oscar nomination. For the occasion, Rihanna, who hasn’t accustomed us to black, wore creations by Azzedine Alaïa and Maison Margiela. Discover the service delivered by Rihanna:
