First of all, pediatricians advise that children should be put on shoes with sturdy soles as late as possible. Nevertheless, you should take the wishes of your offspring seriously, otherwise they will not be happy and wear the shoe reluctantly. A child-friendly closure is just as important as the right color of the shoe model.
The right shoe size: Not too small and not too big
As already mentioned, the right size of the new children’s shoe is crucial. To do this, first measure your child’s foot precisely.
Unfortunately, shoe sizes for children’s shoes are not as consistent as one would like, so you should not simply rely on the size given by the shoe manufacturer. Children’s feet need enough space in the shoe, because the little ones don’t yet feel whether a shoe fits them. Children’s feet grow quickly, so you should measure them regularly. About every three months it’s time to pull out the measuring device again and check the foot size. It is also helpful to postpone both the measurement and the purchase of the shoes until the evening. Because as the day progresses, children’s feet can get a little thicker and you want to be on the safe side after all.
The right materials
Children’s shoes should generally be light, flexible and elastic so that they can optimally support the child’s walking process. Such a children’s shoe should also be air-permeable and water-repellent, so that the child’s foot can breathe and is protected from moisture at the same time. In addition, the soles of the shoes should be as non-slip as possible and heels have absolutely nothing to do with children’s shoes!
Leather, for example, is ideal because it combines all of these components and also looks pretty chic. Of course, there are other materials that work just as well. High-quality materials pay off the most because they have a longer service life and therefore remain beautiful for longer.

No, because children’s feet sweat more than adult feet. Therefore, the shoes must be aired and dried regularly before your child can use them again.
In order for a shoe to maintain its optimal climate, it needs a little break to breathe deeply. For each season, your child should therefore have at least two pairs of shoes that they can switch back and forth between.
A no-go: used shoes
Of course, used children’s shoes can still look good and serve their purpose. Or maybe not? Children’s feet and shoes lead a kind of symbiotic relationship with each other. The child’s foot adapts to the shoe to a certain extent, but the shoe also adapts to the child’s foot the other way round. If you now put someone else’s foot in a shoe that has already been worn, the child’s foot can still adapt to the shoe. However, it is no longer possible the other way around and that is exactly what is fatal for your child’s foot.
We therefore strongly advise against dressing your child in used shoes and instead spending a little more money on new, high-quality shoes that your child can feel comfortable in.
