Also in autumn 2023 the trench coat is one of the hottest fashion-it-pieces and the ideal transitional coat. But be careful: Most of us wear the fashion classic wrong. Stilpalast reveals the best styling tricks and shows which trench coat suits your body type best and which models are particularly popular this fall. At the same time, we are giving away a beautiful designer bag worth over CHF 400, which is proving to be the ideal companion for a trench coat.
The trend models in autumn 2023
It doesn’t have to be the legendary and admittedly not exactly cheap version from the traditional house Burberry, but a trench coat is undoubtedly one of the most important fashion classics that you can have in your closet. If you want a model that is as timeless as possible, you should opt for the classic with a straight cut and the color beige. If you are a bit taller, you can also go for a long, oversized model. Or how about a luxurious-looking model made of (artificial) leather that has a delicate shimmer and therefore looks very classy? Finally, the trendiest models also include denim trench coats, which exude a great pinch of nonchalance and elegance.
When it comes to colors, you have plenty to choose from in autumn and winter 2023/24. In addition to the classics beige, black, navy blue, khaki and brown, you can now also find great trench coats in delicate pastel shades or bright colors such as red, yellow, pink and orange in the shops. If you can’t decide on a color, simply choose a model with colorful checks.
This is how you wear the trench coat correctly
- If your clothing style is elegant and rather classic, you should choose a model that is cut close to the body. If you love it fashionable and daring, a loose oversized model with long and wide sleeves is just right for you.
- Even if the trench has buttons and corresponding buttonholes: deadly sin no. 1 when wearing a trench coat is actually to fasten the buttons. Closing the belt with a buckle is also frowned upon. It is correct to casually tie the belt together to close the trench coat.
- Naturally, the trench coat has a relatively wide neckline. In windy, rainy weather, you can simply fold the right and left sides of the large lapel over one another before knotting the belt together. This protects your cleavage and neck.
- Of course, you can also wear the trench coat open as well. If the coat is a bit too loose for you, you can also tie the belt at the back and give it a waistline that way.
- You can bring nonchalance into your trench coat outfit by pushing up the sleeves and turning up the collar. This makes the look not so severe.
Styling tips for every figure
Petite elf
Small but fine – that’s the best way to describe your figure. When choosing your new coat, it is important not to make you look even smaller. Therefore: reach for a short trench coat that is cut as close to the body as possible. So you can easily cheat a few centimeters in height. Epaulettes, a wide lapel or a wide belt are recommended for optically more curves.

Curvy and feminine
You don’t need to have a model figure to wear a trench coach. Female curves can be staged super sexy with this classic coat. Tip: It’s best to go for a shorter-cut model. This emphasizes your curves without being uncomfortable. If you have a large bust, you should choose a model with as long and narrow a lapel as possible, as this visually stretches your chest.

Tall and skinny
With your dimensions, you can basically wear any type of trench coat. You are almost predestined for the currently very popular oversized models and the ultra-long trenches that reach down to the ankles.
