Well dressed for spring – it works with the right basics!
I used to ask myself, what do women who are always well dressed do differently when it comes to styling? The answer was very simple: you have high-quality basics in your closet that can be easily combined with other items of clothing and create a stylish outfit in no time at all. You can read here which parts these are and how they can be used to create a harmonious look.

The best fashion basics for a stylish appearance:
An overflowing closet is by no means a guarantee for good fashion style. I just can approve that too! It is of course very tempting that we can buy really super fashionable pieces for little money in the big (and cheap) fashion chains. How often have I bought a lot of (cheap) trend pieces and then usually only worn them once or even not at all. These items are often too colourful, too eccentric, uncomfortable or not valuable enough to be enjoyed for a long time. The magic word for a good and stylish appearance is: buy high-quality fashion basics. These are simple, timeless pieces in neutral colors such as white, grey, black, dark blue, beige or with classic stripes. And we can then build our personal look around these well-chosen basic pieces. So it’s better to stay away from short-lived and colorful trends, or like I do: buy trend pieces – yes, but carefully and carefully selected. They have to be absolute favourites.
Stay away from cheap chemical fibers – “My sister’s name is Polyyyeesteeer”
If we want to shop for fashion basics, we should look out for good quality and high-quality materials, especially when it comes to tops: T-shirts, blouses, long sleeves, sweaters should be made of cotton, linen or other natural fibers. Stay away from fast fashion pieces made from 100% polyester. It is always uncomfortable to wear and even from a distance it looks cheap.
The perfect pair of jeans
The perfect pair of jeans doesn’t have rolls at the ankles (if the pants are too long and create unsightly waves), they don’t sag around the buttocks, and they don’t have rips or appliqués. A stylish but fashionable pair of jeans fits the buttocks, legs and stomach as if it were tailor-made. The cut doesn’t matter as long as it fits well and is of good quality. Once we have found a pair of jeans that fit well, we only need a few combination pieces to look well styled in them. I love flared jeans with slightly flared legs because they look good on me and suit my type. This can be a different model for other women, the only important thing is that you know your size and are willing to have your new favorite model shortened or adjusted by a tailor. Classic jeans go well with simple blouses (e.g. blue striped or in white), comfortable ankle boots, clean sneakers, loafers, pumps or sandals with block heels. And when we want to go out at night, we simply wear it with an oversized blazer and pumps. The classic 10-point jeans look is ready.
Nothing goes without a blazer! In recent years the all-rounder, the fashion hype par excellence. If we want to be at the forefront of fashion, then we need one or two good blazers in the closet. A monochrome blazer (perhaps oversized) makes every outfit a cool fashion look. Here, too, we should pay attention to good quality and prefer rather simple cuts. If you are not in a good financial position, you are guaranteed to find a high-quality model in a good second-hand shop or actually at H&M. Blazers go perfectly with jeans, but also with dresses and mini-skirts.
My current winter wool blazer:
White t shirts – They are the perfect basic pieces that we can build pretty much any look on. With a plain white T-shirt, jeans and a cool blouson, we can immediately stroll through the city in style. A beautiful skirt with a colorful print pattern can also be enhanced by a white T-shirt. The classic white T-shirt should fit perfectly, have a nice round or V-neck, not be warped and dented, and be made of a comfortable and wearable material (e.g. cotton jersey, cotton, lyocell). Rather invest a little more (and iron before wearing!). You can buy nice basic shirts e.g. B. buy at Reiss.
Classic trend piece – trench coat
There are trends that come and go or that only briefly flare up in the fashion sky. They are relevant for a short time and then disappear again from the radar. But a classic trench coat is a perfect mix of evergreen and current trend. He is the absolute fashion darling of the season. It is THE it trend piece and at the same time a basic piece par excellence. If you don’t have one yet, you should grab one now. There are trench coats in all variations and price ranges.
Classic Trench – Pleated Trousers
Formerly the epitome of stuffiness: pleated trousers. Especially in the 80s (Denver Clan fans know what I’m talking about) pleated pants were the hottest fashion item. Now this classic pants trend, which fought its way into the top 5 fashion trends for spring 2023, is back. As the name suggests, this trousers model is characterized by the sewn-in folds on the front waistband, which means that the hip and seat area is cut wider. It narrows down again. Simple pleated trousers always impress with a certain elegance and are therefore my classic tip for spring!
Are you already well prepared for spring? Which classics are you focusing on at the moment?
I wish you a nice beginning of spring.
