Hello Austria! You don’t always have to get on the plane, because our beautiful neighboring country also has a lot to offer: mountains, relaxation, nature. That’s why I set off last weekend to visit the Nesslerhof in Grossarltal: a beautiful wellness hotel with a lot of attention to detail.
ROOMS AND SUITES IN THE NESSLERHOF
The Nesserlhof is a 4-star superior hotel with 62 rooms and suites ranging in size from 35 to 88 square meters. Each of the rooms has its own balcony with a breathtaking view of the Grossarl mountains. In my opinion, the Nesslerhof is very difficult to put into one category, because families with children, wellness lovers or those who are active in sports are at the right place here. Directly opposite there is a ski slope with a mountain railway and various hiking trails. The spacious wellness and spa area provides plenty of relaxation for the adults. The host family Neudegger and the service staff take care of the well-being of their guests with warmth. You feel very, very comfortable!
We were allowed to stay in the Liebelei suite with room number 323. The suite was 88sqm and a 22sqm balcony – with a beautiful panoramic view. Oh and the highlight: the room’s own sauna including infrared cabin! Perfect for your late-night sauna session in a very private atmosphere. The suite definitely leaves nothing to be desired.
WELLNESS AND (DAY) SPA
The wellness oasis is divided into two areas: Twenty Eleven (clothing area, indoor and outdoor pool) and Twenty Sixteen (clothing-free sauna area). The areas were named after the years of construction, 2011 and 2016.
In the spacious areas you will find a large selection of comfortable day beds, water beds and hanging loungers. You can always find a quiet spot with privacy. One can only say about the sauna area: WOW! There are different saunas, a steam bath, a stone pine sauna, an ice-cold outdoor pond and a warm saltwater outdoor pool. Definitely a dream for all sauna and wellness fans.
The natural bathing pond is also available on warm days and invites you to take a little refreshment.
FOOD: WELCOME FOODBABY
The food baby is no joke, the Nesslerhof offers a 3/4 gourmet board, starting with a gourmet breakfast made from regional specialities, fresh fruit juices and freshly prepared egg dishes. It continues with the afternoon snack consisting of a salad buffet, a soup, coffee and cake. In the evening you can enjoy a wonderful 5-course dinner with a salad buffet, a selection of cheeses and dessert at your fixed seat. The meal was excellent.
Fact 1: All ingredients come from the region and the meat even comes from the in-house butcher.
Fact 2: There is enough space for extra wishes. My girlfriend who accompanied me eats vegan and it wasn’t a problem. The kitchen has come up with something extra and the service staff was so attentive. I have rarely experienced such good service!
SURROUNDINGS: GROSSARL
The area around the Nesslerhof has a lot to offer: hiking, skiing, Salzburg, Liechtensteinklamm, Krimmler waterfalls, Eisriesenwelt Werfen (the most beautiful and largest ice cave in the world) and much more.
To be honest, we didn’t leave the hotel because the wellness area itself had so much to offer. It was just too comfortable and we too relaxed to let off steam actively. 🙂 Although that’s not quite right: Verena used the fitness room diligently while I continued to test the wellness area in detail. #sorrynotsorry 🙂
THE GUEST WHISPERERS
That’s what the employees of the Nesslerhof call themselves – and you have to admit, the name fits very well. You have the feeling that the service staff reads your wishes from your lips. We felt very comfortable and the wellness area is a dream. If you are in the area, treat yourself to a stay or a great day spa visit, because it will be worth it!
