Summer is the season of shorter dresses and trousers, T-shirts and tank tops. In addition to the length of the garment, the fabric also plays a role in how comfortable you feel in the heat. In the following article you can find out which fabrics are suitable in summer to make you sweat less and feel good. We also give you a few tips for the fabrics that are good for babies in summer.

What fabrics to wear in summer and why?
In winter, we prefer large sweaters made of wool and cashmere because they keep you warmer. For the summer, however, we tend to look for dresses made of airy fabrics. But what are these substances?
#Linen
Linen is woven from plant fibers and is therefore particularly breathable. Unlike cotton or most synthetic fabrics, linen blouses, shirts or dresses dry quickly and remain airy. Because the fabric isn’t particularly stretchy, the cuts are usually roomy to keep you comfortable. Another plus of linen dresses is that the fabric is quite durable. Still, some people don’t like the stuff. The reason? Clothing made from pure linen is particularly difficult to iron and creases easily. You can quickly solve the problem without much effort by spraying the fabric with water and smoothing it out with your hands. A tip: To keep your clothes from looking wrinkled all the time, choose fabrics that are a blend of linen and cotton or viscose.

#Cotton
Besides linen, cotton is another popular fabric for summer. While many people support the notion that cotton clothing isn’t particularly airy, that’s not entirely true. The fabric is just as breathable as linen or silk and can absorb moisture and sweat quickly and easily. The fabric is quite strong and garments made of cotton can be worn for longer. Unlike blouses, dresses or trousers made from linen and silk, these made from cotton do not tend to crease as easily.
#Bamboo
Bamboo textiles are also perfect for hot summer days because they wick away moisture. In this way the temperature of the body is regulated and despite the heat you feel cool. Bamboo fabric clothes are not only breathable, but also quite robust. Another advantage of this substance is that it has an antibacterial effect. Thanks to this, these dresses are suitable for people with sensitive skin and babies. That is why more and more people prefer underwear, bedding and towels made of bamboo fabric.

#Silk
A majority of women opt for silk clothing in the summer and it is not without reason. This fabric is also breathable and strong and silk shirts or dresses are really light and comfortable against your skin. However, accessories (such as scarves) and clothing made of silk are often expensive and unfortunately do not last as long as those made of cotton or linen. Silk garments also need special, attentive care to keep them in the wardrobe longer. You should definitely have a long dress or at least a blouse made of silk in your wardrobe!

#Jersey
Jersey fabrics are made from a combination of cotton and polyester. They are often considered the best sportswear, including t-shirts, jerseys, sweatpants, etc. These types of fabrics tend to be lightweight and comfortable to wear, making them an ideal choice for clothing on warm summer days. Jersey is hard-wearing and breathable, but also particularly stretchy. Jersey garments are comfortable and suitable for people with sensitive skin. Unlike silk, this fabric is fairly inexpensive and perfect for sportswear, bedding, or underwear.

What fabrics to avoid in summer?
The most important thing when choosing new clothes for the summer is that they are airy and can absorb moisture well. Stylists tell us not to use plastics such as nylon, acrylic and polyester. Leather jackets or pants are also not a good idea for the high temperatures because they don’t absorb water or moisture. You sweat more and faster when you put on synthetic clothes, which creates an uncomfortable feeling.

What fabrics for babies in summer?
Of course, when choosing summer dresses for your little child or baby, you should consider the fabrics. However, there are other things you should be aware of.
Just like you, you should also choose clothes made of natural fibers for your children. The child’s skin is sensitive and prone to inflammation and redness, so polyester or nylon clothes are not a good idea. Plastics are also not breathable and have no temperature regulating properties. Until the first year, babies find it difficult to regulate their body temperature. Because artificial fabrics are not good at absorbing moisture, overheating is possible. And that’s not what you want. In addition, jumpers, trousers and t-shirts made from natural fibers are flexible and comfortable, as well as being more robust and easier to care for and wash. While natural fabrics keep you warm, they are also breathable, allowing for proper airflow, helping keep you cool.

tissue like silk, Cotton, bamboo and Wool are perfect for summer wear. Wool fiber in summer? Yes! It regulates moisture and cools at high temperatures so that your child does not sweat. Another plus is that woolen clothing has antibacterial properties. However, make absolutely sure that the garments are made of thin yarns to avoid friction. For this you can buy garments made of mixed fabrics such as wool and silk or wool with cotton.
clothes made of pure Cotton also feel comfortable on the sensitive baby skin. They absorb moisture very well, but also keep you cool. Important! Because cotton garments are better at absorbing sweat, you should change sweaty overalls or panties regularly.

Linen is the third natural substance suitable for small children and babies. Like cotton, linen garments offer low UV protection, but are tough, breathable and offer a pleasant cooling effect on baby.
On the market today you can also find clothes and accessories (like hats or swimwear) that are specially made for babies and offer extra UV protection. Similar to sunscreen, substances block harmful UV rays. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you should leave your child in the sun all day without worrying! Another trick (even for adults) to stay comfortable in the heat is to wear light colored clothes.
