New season for manicures! We close the summer bottles to make way for the fall varnishes. Warm, intense colors, retro shapes, 2 in 1 varnishes, several professionals in the field have given us a preview of the manicure trends to follow for fall winter 2023-2024. And this year, the season promises to be feminine, glamorous and sophisticated. Find out.
Dark and intense manicure
Unlike last year when purple was omnipresent, this season dark colors are appropriate. As Céline Bonaque, Rimmel London training coordinator, says: “Black is making a comeback as well as burgundy, theatrical colors.” For everyday use, these shades are best worn on medium-sized nails. The result will be more chic and elegant than on nails that are too short or too long.
Almond nails
Until now, the rounded square nail shape had taken the lead, but this fall, the tip of the nail is more worked. “It’s a nod to the 80s, a slightly designer look, very feminine”declares Christian David, President of Kure Bazaar. “The ideal is to define this shape over a little length, for a nicely refined tip.” To enhance these almond-shaped nails, bright red brings “a lipstick effect, hyper feminine”, explains Christian David. A timeless piece that can adapt to all profiles.
The fine French manicure
Derived from ready-to-wear “Quiet Luxury”, meaning luxury without ostentation, the French manicure is very subtle this season. To be worn preferably on short nails, it is available according to your wishes. “We can play with the color on the edge of the nail”, declares Céline Bonaque. In the same vein, Nathalie Rohlf, international Mavala trainer, reveals that the manicure vice and versa has a place to take: “it involves applying a mattifying top coat to the surface of the nail and a shiny top coat to the edge of the nail. This way you can have fun with the colors, with a darker shade at the end. ” For the less experienced, the use of stencils can be useful.
Bright red nails
It’s the return of the great classics. This season, the trend is bright, vibrant red. We forget the coral and burgundy shades, it’s pure red which predominates. Céline Bonaque reveals: “Bright red is a color that is coming back in ready-to-wear, it contrasts with the grayness of winter. It’s a very luminous red.” Although it is the most worn shade when it comes to manicures, red nail polish remains a matter of desire, mood and personality. “It’s an easy manicure to wear, as long as you like the color,” explains the Rimmel training coordinator.
Cashmere gray manicure
Always inspired by ready-to-wear, cashmere gray is one of the trends for the fall-winter 2023-2024 season. Gray is worked gently at Kure Bazaar: “it’s a slate gray and not anthracite that comes into play”, indicates the President of the brand. Easy to wear, it can be worn on all types of nails. Céline Bonaque, adds: “cashmere gray can also be worked in gradients, with a different color of gray on each nail, going from the lightest to the darkest.” As our experts recommend, it is essential to apply a base under intense colors to protect the nail from pigments.
Slat nails
Just like makeup, the latte trend is coming to our nails this season.“Whether it’s chocolate, beige or even café au lait shades, the shades are soft, but intense”, announces the Rimmel expert. Same thing as for cashmere gray, the manicure can work in gradients here. Kure Bazaar, for their part, offers a mocha brown nail polish, fully in line with this trend.
Neat, minimalist manicure
Big news this season: the neat manicure. “It’s a very minimalist trend, with clean, smooth hands, cleaned cuticles, hydrated skin,” reports the Rimmel training coordinator. Thus, we magnify the nail with a very transparent, glossy or pink varnish, always leaving a glimpse of the nail. To match perfectly with this trend, Christian David, President of Kure Bazaar says: “The treatment varnish is an essential 2 in 1, it is applied directly to the nail, without a base. It is a treatment treatment containing vitamin E, collagen and treatment oils.”
Pink, beige, pearly, it is your best ally for taking a break after the summer semi-permanent.
