Sometimes it is the simplest things that leave the biggest impression – just like this rustic fried piece of beef, which comes to full development with a few ingredients and lots of love in the pan. Inspired by a recipe from Karelia, handed down in 1985 by the district board member of Neubrandenburg of the GDR journalist association, there is a touch of Soviet hospitality in this dish, served with hearty home cooking.
Tender beefwith Mustard coated and in crazy onions is turned, a spicy marinade records before it whipped egg bathed and in plenty Fat Gold brown sizzles. The highlight? A splash Milkthat ensures juiciness and rounds off the whole thing. The result is crispy on the outside, delicate and full of taste – just as you would imagine in a rustic dining room somewhere in the north, with a clear view of the steaming plate and a glass of Selters or malt beer within reach.
A perfect Sunday dish if it can be uncomplicated, but still special.
