4 tips on how to make classic vinegar-oil dressing

Only the right vinaigrette gives a salad the necessary kick. And my classic vinegar-oil dressing is one of those lettuce sauces-although it works with very few ingredients and is very simple. Nevertheless, it brings just the right mix of spice and acid that fits all my salad lovers. And the nice thing: in just 5 minutes the oil-vinegar dressing is already prepared. Incidentally, so that the taste and texture are right, I always stick to these details:

  1. Place the right ratio of vinegar and oil. This is important for both the texture and the taste.
  2. The ingredients should have the same temperatureso that you can combine ideally and have a homogeneous salad dressing stir.
  3. First vinegar,, Mix mustard and sugar smooth. Then the oil can be stirred better and is well connected to the remaining ingredients.
  4. Stir the dressing vigorously with a whiskso that the ingredients connect well. Vinegar and oil have to form an emulsion.

What is the right ratio of vinegar and oil for the basic dressing recipe?

The classic ratio for the salad sauce with vinegar and oil is included 1: 2. Say: Two parts of oil come to a part of vinegar. So I like the basic recipe because this mixture is well balanced in this mixture.

You can of course adapt the ratio for your vinegar and oil dressing to taste-depending on the type of vinegar or oil. If you use a very strong vinegar, a ratio of 1: 3 or 1: 4 sometimes tastes better. My tip: Better to start with a little less acidity and optionally increase the amount.

Prepare salad dressing with which vinegar and oil?

I use for my very classic oil-vinegar dressing White wine vinegar and mild olive oil Or sunflower oil. This combination tastes very mild, slightly fruity and fits almost all salads.

Of course, you can also prepare the basic recipe with other edible and oils. And so turn the taste of the dressing. Take a look at these combinations:

  • Fruity and aromatic: Balsamic vinegar (white or dark) with native olive oil extra or walnut oil
  • Vigorous and hearty: Red wine vinegar or herbal vinegar with rapeseed oil or pumpkin seed oil

The best vinegar-oil dressing for salad-this is how it can be varied

The best thing about the salad sauce with vinegar and oil, it can be prepared in a child’s play in 5 minutes and is super versatile. In fact, I not only use the dressing for salad, but also to marinate or refine vegetables or meat. That is why it is one of my favorite salad dressing recipes. Simply because it is a real all -rounder and can always be varied in terms of taste. You can use these ingredients for this:

  • Different oil variants from mild to intensive
  • Fruit vinegar for a sweet, fruity note
  • Fresh herbs such as parsley, chives or basil
  • Fresh garlic or fine onion cubes for more spice
  • Chili flakes for a piquant taste
  • Yoghurt for creaminess
  • Honey or agave syrup for something sweet
