That’s why it’s a lot smarter to use these for fertilizing than tossing them in the trash! Basically, you have two options for making a natural fertilizer with or from banana peels yourself. Here we present both options:

First cut the banana skins into small pieces.

1) Chop up banana peels, dry them and use them as fertilizer

Using a sharp knife, cut the fresh yellow skins into small pieces. The smaller the pieces are cut, the faster they will decompose in the soil. If you only have a handful of 2-3 fresh banana peels, you can use them immediately for potted flowers. If there are several yellow shells, you can also use the food processor to chop them up there. Then put the banana peel pieces in an airy place and let them dry there. Dry banana peels are ideal fertilizers because they have retained their nutrients and minerals. After the drying process, it must then be spread around the root area of ​​the garden plants and worked into the flat soil. You can also save dry pieces of banana peel for later use. However, our advice is not to keep the pieces in a closed jar or foil bag, as they will quickly mold there. Roughly cut pieces of banana peel can be used on garden plants in spring by mixing them with mulch or grass clippings.
