What is carrot oil?
As a rule, it is the oil that is made from the roots of wild carrots. You hardly find it in its pure form, but always mixed with a carrying oil, such as jojoba or almond oil. On the other hand, if it is a carrot essential oil, it is more specifically a carrot seed oil. This is obtained from the seeds of carrots by steam distillation. The most important ingredients of the seeds are completely preserved and the healthy effect of the oil is ensured.

This is how you can make carrot oil yourself
Steam distillation from carrot seeds is quite laborious and not recommended in domestic conditions. The best way to make your carrot oil is this:
The ingredients:
- 2 organic carrots from our own cultivation
- Carrying oil: Olive, coconut, almond, sunflower or sesame oil
And this is how it’s done:
- Wash and peel carrots.
- Then grate them with a hand grater or food processor.
- Place the grated carrots in a mason jar and pour your choice of oil over them to coat. 2 1/4 cups of oil is quite enough for two carrots.
- Briefly heat the glass in a water bath on the lowest flame and allow to cool. The oil will soon turn orange.
- After this process, pour the carrot and oil mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth and strain.
- Label the jar with the oil and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Tip: If stored properly, the DIY carrot oil can be kept for a few weeks or even months.
