Games are part of the children’s birthday party. But what do you do in winter when it’s cold and muddy? The rascals want to be exhausted and busy, otherwise chaos is inevitable. For your children’s birthday party in winter: we have put together game ideas for all ages. There is something for every party!
The futile search for game ideas is over! Our collection here in this post is intended to be a reference work that you can refer to again and again. Regardless of whether there are children’s birthdays, family celebrations or just fun afternoons. The main thing is games and fun in winter 🙂
Our game ideas are sorted by age group. You know your kids best – so estimate which game suits your group of children for yourself.

Suitable for games and age groups, we suggest our birthday party boxes. They make your preparations a lot easier.
Our birthday party boxes are lovingly created by us, manufactured in Germany and packed by hand in the Fräulein K says Ja Studio. They contain ready-made stationery, DIYs, handicraft and game ideas and suitable decorations for the respective birthday motto.

Children’s birthday parties in winter: game ideas for all ages
As long as it’s not pouring rain, activities in the fresh air are perfect for getting rid of excess energy – even in winter. Hat, scarf and gloves on and off you go.
But we also have game ideas for rainy days.
Games for 1 to 3 year olds
The little ones don’t need a lot of program. A simple action quickly becomes a highlight.
- Bobycar races in the apartment or in the yard
- Obstacle course through the apartment
If parents and grandparents in particular are there, a fine selection of cakes and / or pastries and a colorful play area for the little ones is sufficient.

Games for 3 to 5 year olds
3 to 5 year olds are more demanding. A little power-off program, new impressions and trying things out is a challenge for the children.
- Excursion to the zoo
- Disguise party with mini disco
- Paint flower pots
- Visit child-friendly museum and take part in activities / events on site
- Make animals out of natural materials such as pine cones

Games for 5 to 8 year olds
At that age, I think theme parties are particularly beautiful. Whether it’s a world trip, safari or horse party – there are great games, handicraft instructions or active activities in the fresh winter air on every topic:
- Handicrafts, pottery, painting ceramics
- Tinker snow globes
- Pottery bowls and tea cups
- Painting ceramic mug
- Treasure hunt or scavenger hunt in the forest
- Build a snowman, igloo and snow bar
- Go tobogganing and build a toboggan course with a small jump
- Paper planes – flying competitions
- Indoor mini golf or indoor playground
- Visit a chocolate workshop or pour your own chocolate

Games for 8 to 12 year olds
Just go outside? That is not enough! The kids want to be offered something. Get the birthday child involved in the preparations and let them help you. Decide together where to go or what to experience:
- Scavenger hunt in winter
- Bake pizza together
- Pour soaps
- Go ice skating and curling
- Go boules
- Let off steam in the climbing hall

Classic children’s birthday games
When everyone only goes to the indoor playground and climbing gyms, classic birthday games – which we used to celebrate as children – become something special:
- Trip to Jerusalem
- Blindman’s Buff
- Hitting the pot
- Chocolate eating contest or
- Toilet paper mummies
