Even if we can’t go far at the moment – at some point that will be possible again. Then nothing stands in the way of unforgettable honeymoons to the most beautiful spots on earth. Until then, we’ll make ourselves comfortable in our own garden or rediscover Germany as a holiday destination. And with that we are even doing something good for the environment! We have some tips for you on how you can travel in a climate-friendly manner – also and especially during the current events.Regional instead of long-distance
The shorter the distance to the destination, the more climate-friendly you can travel. But not only the environment is a good argument to pay attention to the immediate surroundings. Too often we fail to appreciate the diverse travel options within our own country. Germany, for example, has beautiful, romantic lakes and forests to offer, but also attracts with big city flair.
Excellent instead of thoughtless
It doesn’t always have to be the big chains. How about a climate-certified hotel? Special seals provide information about how climate-friendly the chosen accommodation is. The hotels awarded with them rely on healthy nutrition with regional foods, avoid unnecessary laundry, use energy-saving lighting and green electricity from renewable energies. Glass instead of plastic bottles
Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make a difference. Anyone traveling by car needs a care package on the road. Instead of buying drinks in plastic bottles, opt for reusable alternatives. In addition to glass, thermos bottles or to-go cups are also suitable for travel. The latter keep your drinks nice and warm or provide welcome refreshment during the journey.Local instead of mall
You can also have a positive influence on many things at the holiday destination itself. For example, if you shop in local shops, you support independent retail. It is best to pack your souvenirs in a cloth bag you have brought with you. It doesn’t have to be a zero-waste holiday, but a lot of waste can easily be saved with a little preparation.
