The main rule when caring for fuchsias is that they must be fertilized frequently and sufficiently. As a rule, fuchsias need fertilizer once a week from March to August. From autumn they hardly need any nutrients. It is therefore recommended that you do without long-term fertilizers such as sticks, granules or cones in summer. Such solid fertilizers are used more early in the season.

Liquid fertilizers, which have an instantaneous effect, can be added to the water every week or two. During their vegetation period, these heavy feeders need to be fertilized less frequently – about every three to four weeks. Although a commercially available liquid fertilizer for flowering plants is quite appropriate, other means could also be used to an end.
