Deep, loamy soil is best for peonies. This gives the plant’s roots enough space to grow deep into the ground. If the ground in your ridge is too hard, then you need to enrich it with sand and pebbles.
The heavenly fragrance and the beautiful flowers are characteristic of the peonies. Both can only be achieved if you make sure that the plants get enough nutrients. In fact, the peonies are weakly consuming plants, which means they rarely need to be fertilized. If you fertilize them too often, they can even cause damage.
Actually, the frequency of fertilizing depends on the fertilizer itself. If you choose a mineral fertilizer for your peonies, then you have to supply them with it every four weeks. If you rely on organic fertilization, then you have to fertilize the peonies twice a year: in spring when they bud and in summer after flowering.
