Waffle recipe for home to bake yourself – simple heart -fumbles with vanilla
I love waffles since childhood. Who doesn’t know him, the sweet fragrance of fresh waffles on school festivals or children’s birthdays? For me, a recipe with a lot of childhood memory is.
The other day I was in Büsum for a few days, and there were waffles on every corner – with ice cream, cream and with hot cherries. Really typical North German! I was full of waffle fever again! And when I was back home, it was clear: it’s time for a new waffle recipe on the blog.
These heart paffts contain fewer eggs because our son can only tolerate small quantities. All the better that everyone was enthusiastic here. I have served them classically with whipped cream and strawberries – next time they will be “northern German” with ice and hot cherries, like in Büsum. HAMMER delicious!
Ingredients for my simple herb waffle recipe
✔️ Soft butter
The butter should have room temperature – so it can be stirred better and makes the dough nice and smooth.
✔️ Sugar and vanilla sugar
The sugar ensures the sweetness, the vanilla sugar brings a fine aroma. You can also take vanilla extract or the mark of a vanilla bean if you prefer that.
✔️ Egg
They bind the dough and make it loose. I basically bake eggs in size M, preferably from the region.
✔️ Milk
Milk makes the dough more fluid and connects everything well. You can also use buttermilk.
✔️ Flour, baking powder and salt
The wheat flour is the basis of the dough. You can also use spelled or gluten-free flour. I have with wine stone back powder, but you can also use normal baking powder.
✔️ Cinnamon & mineral water with carbon dioxide
Cinnamon gives the dough a great taste. A dash of sparkling makes the dough a little looser and the waffles fluffier. That’s how I do it with my pancakes.
So you bake waffles in the waffle iron
1️⃣ First stir the soft butter with the sugar and the vanilla sugar in a large bowl. It takes a few minutes – take some time so that the mass gets nice and fluffy.
2️⃣ Now add the eggs individually and stir them well. So everything connects better and the dough becomes nice and relaxed.
3️⃣ Now pour the milk and stir everything on briefly – only until the ingredients have connected.
4️⃣ In a second bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder, a pinch of salt and – if you like – some cinnamon. Then gradually add this mixture to the butter-egg mass. Only stir until a smooth dough is created. Stirring too long makes the dough tough.
5️⃣ For extra fluffy waffles, you can finally fold in a tablespoon of spoon. That loosens the dough a little.
6️⃣ Heat your waffle iron well. When it is hot, carefully brush the plates with a little oil or butter – it works best with a back brush. So nothing sticks later.
7️⃣ Now add a portion of dough to the middle of the waffle iron – depending on your iron, a small trowel is often sufficient. Folds the iron and bake the waffle until it is golden brown. This usually takes 2–4 minutes. Make sure not to open the waffle iron too early – then the waffle tears slightly.
8️⃣ Repeat the whole thing until the dough is used up. In between you can easily grease the panels again so that the last waffles can be done nicely.
My tips for your first waffles

- 100 G butter soft
- 70 G Sugar
- 1 Bag Vanilla sugar
- 2 Piece Egg
- 250 ML Milk
- 200 G Flour
- 1 TL baking powder
- 1 prize Salt
- 2 Tin mineral water

Mix the butter, sugar and vanilla sugar until creamy until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Add the eggs individually and stir in well.

Stir in the milk – just briefly so that everything is well connected.

Mix the flour, baking powder, salt (and optional cinnamon) in a second bowl and add to butter-egg mass.

Mix everything into a smooth, viscous dough – do not beat too long. Tip: Stir in some sparkling water for particularly airy waffles.

Preheat the waffle iron, grease it slightly and bake the dough in portions until the waffles are golden brown.
