Wedding Planning – 10 Things You Shouldn’t Forget!

The time has finally come and you can start planning your wedding. What feels great at the beginning often ends in a lot of stress as time gets scarcer. The fact is, planning a wedding is a huge task. Keeping an eye on all the big and, especially, the small things is not that easy. As a wedding planner, I know exactly what is quickly forgotten. So that this doesn’t happen to you, I’m sharing my “10 things you shouldn’t forget when planning your wedding!” with you today.

1. Set your budget at the beginning of your wedding planning!

Weddings are expensive – it’s no secret. That’s why I advise you to set the budget right at the beginning of the planning. It is best to plan a buffer at the same time. In addition to all the big things, such as location, photographer and catering, there are also many small things that belong to a wedding. And these add up faster than you think.
In a non-binding initial meeting with me, I make a rough budget calculation.

2. Start looking for your wedding outfits early on.

What is usually done quickly for the groom may take a little longer for the bride. Finding the perfect wedding dress is definitely an affair of the heart and should be duly celebrated. But keep in mind that wedding dresses sometimes have a long delivery time and you should also plan time for any changes. It is best to call the bridal shop of your choice directly and make an appointment!

3. Wedding Planning: Checklists, Checklists & Checklists!

My professional tip: Create a checklist and write down all the important (and less important) things! That way you can tick everything off and make sure you don’t forget anything.
By the way: You can find many ready-made checklists on the Internet that you can use for your planning.

4. Your service providers

Make a note of all contact persons and their contact details. So you always have an overview and don’t have to search for a phone number for an unnecessarily long time.

5. You need a plan B!

The weather is unpredictable. If your wedding ceremony or reception takes place outdoors, I advise you to have a plan B up your sleeve. Maybe there is a nice room at your location that you can use in case of an emergency?
My professional tip: Even in summer there are a few things to consider. The summers are getting hotter and hotter and your guests will be grateful if you think of shady places and cool drinks.

6. Contact persons for the wedding day

Choose 1-2 people from your environment. These are the contact persons for your guests. It is best to name them, including their telephone number, on your invitation cards. So your guests know who to contact with surprises, game ideas, questions, etc. can turn.

7. Plan your group photos!

Before your wedding day, start thinking about which group photos make sense for you. The session should not last longer than 20-30 minutes. This way your guests won’t get bored and you have time to really enjoy your day. Photographers use the time gained to photograph your guests during good conversations, great emotions or even one or the other tear. Be sure that these pictures and the time with your guests are more valuable than too many group photos.

8. Break in your shoes.

And I recommend that to both of you! Break in your shoes as best you can. Don’t forget that you have to walk, stand and dance in it for a really long time on your wedding day.

9. pack an emergency bag!

Something is always! The tights have a run, the shoes are not broken in well enough (see tip 8!)… An emergency bag is your salvation. So, I pack my bag and take with me… scissors, sewing kit, hair clips, blister plasters, something for a headache…
Tip: with my full-service planning, you will be provided with two emergency baskets for the women’s and men’s toilets free of charge.

10. Take a deep breath and relax.

The days leading up to your wedding day are incredibly stressful and exciting. So much still has to be done, it’s easy to lose track of things and then the DJ cancels shortly beforehand. The nervousness increases and you don’t know what to do first… Stop! Take a break, do something nice for yourself and breathe deeply! A solution will be found. In a pinch, your guests will probably have great playlists on their cell phones.
