Hello everyone, yesterday we sewed the Patty shirt – here is my blog post about it. Today I would like to show you another great piece of clothing, namely the sewing instructions for the “Vicky” women’s trousers. “Vicky” is a pair of casual pull-on trousers that are very easy to sew and have no fastening at all. With these attributes, Vicky is absolutely perfect for beginners and lovers of last minute sewing projects! With a special fabric, the simple trouser cut quickly becomes a wearing highlight. The elastic waistband makes the trousers wonderfully comfortable, but can still be worn fashionably with the appropriate top. You can get the Vicky women’s trousers cut in the inspiration magazine shop: https://www.bernina.com/hose-vicky.
I had sewing support for this project from the BERNINA L 850 overlocker and the BERNINA 590 sewing machine. The L 850 is an overlocker with an automatic air threader. In addition, this machine has a great free arm and an ingenious extension table, which increases the work surface.
The B 590 is a compact sewing and embroidery machine with everything a sewing fan needs. This machine offers maximum comfort and precise stitch pattern results. In addition to the automatic thread cutter, this device also has jumbo bobbins, which means there are significantly fewer interruptions to sewing. I am also impressed by the perfect fabric transport and the large touchscreen, which is extremely easy to navigate.
My Instagram profile is all about sewing, plotting and DIY. With me you will find reels with tips and great tutorials on a diverse range of topics and projects.

Sew the crotch seams of the front and back pants together
In the first step we sew the two pattern parts of the front and back trousers together. It is important that the respective trouser parts always lie right on top of each other.
Sew the side pieces together
Now both sides of the Vicky women’s trousers are neatly pinned and then the side seams of the front trousers are connected to the back trousers, right sides together.
Sew the crotch seam together
Before we close the crotch seam, we pin around 2.5 cm of the hem edge on each leg. Iron well and then topstitch with a stretchy stitch.
The crotch seam is then closed immediately. To do this, we sew together from one leg to the other in one go. Make sure that the crotch seams meet exactly.
Then it’s best to prepare the waistband by sewing it together.
Sew the waistband and eyelets
Fold the waistband twice lengthways, left sides together, and iron the edge. Close the waistband into a ring, i.e. unfold the waistband again and sew the short sides together, right sides together. We also mark exactly where we want to sew our finished eyelets. You should definitely measure carefully here. Once you have marked the points of the eyelets, slowly and carefully sew these eyelets onto the waistband using a straight stitch. You can then cut the hole freely from behind with small scissors.
Sew the waistband onto the finished trousers
To determine exactly where the waistband meets the side seams of the pants, place the front and center back of the waistband exactly on top of each other. This results in a break on each side. Then pin a marking pin on both sides. Then fold the waistband double and pin it to the waist edge of the trousers with the open edges right sides together. The center front/back or side seams of the waistband and trousers fit together perfectly. We now place our sewn together elastic waistband here and sew everything on in one go.
Pull in the cords and decorate
Finally, we pull in a longer piece of cord with a safety pin. Here we knot both ends and attach a nice cord stopper.
Your fantastically beautiful Vicky women’s trousers are ready. I hope you like the tutorial. For me, this trouser pattern has become an absolute must-have in my wardrobe.
Have fun sewing these pants!
Your Jenny
