What trends can be seen in church weddings?

It doesn’t always have to be the classic church that is decorated with flowers for the wedding. Many brides and grooms choose to get married outdoors in the summer. You choose a mountain hut or an event location to say your vows. Faith often plays a subordinate role in the wedding ceremony. Rather, it’s about giving the wedding vows a festive setting. In this case, I act as a decorator to design the individual “church” for the wedding. The altar is replaced by a place for the priest or the speaker. In any case, this is designed to be an eye-catcher. Flower arches and large flower arrangements are very suitable for this. The chairs for the bride and groom are also an eye-catcher. With a “red carpet”, seating for the guests and numerous flowers, almost any location can be transformed into a wedding chapel.

What are the most important elements to decorate a church for a wedding?

In the classic church or chapel, the crucial elements of the wedding decoration include the altar arrangement, the floral decorations along the aisle and the bride and groom’s chair decoration. The pictures of the St. Thomas Church of the Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Grünwald impressively show how a relatively simple church becomes the perfect stage for the bride and groom. From simple to opulent, everything is possible. In the church, however, you have to come to terms with the requirements of the parish office and the local conditions. For example, the use of real candle decorations is not always permitted. Sometimes the rows of chairs are not allowed to be decorated. But as a decorator, I always find solutions to decorate the church with flowers according to the wishes of the bride and groom.

What should you consider when creating an outdoor church for a wedding?

All weather adversities should be taken into account. The wedding party should not be exposed to the blazing sun, wind or even rain. Either a roof is included in the church decoration or you have an optional “alternative church” up your sleeve.
