Prevent colds

So now we are in the middle of it, in the wet, gray autumn and winter is inexorably coming. In recent years, we’ve often only had colds in January or February, but you can never prevent cold viruses early enough. Cases of illness are already increasing in our local kindergartens and schools.
Fortunately, we didn’t have any runny noses or coughing bears here last winter, perhaps because the Corona hygiene rules also prevented colds and unfortunately social contacts were very limited during the lockdown (with homeschooling). But even in the coming winter we want to hold on bravely and stay as healthy as possible.

Our tips for the cold season

That’s why I would like to share our tips for the cold season with you today.
Let’s start with hygiene, we all know that thanks to Corona – including the children. Frequent and thorough hand washing not only makes sense at these times, but also keeps cold viruses away. So we are very strict about it here: the first thing anyone does when they come from school, work or shopping has to wash their hands. Everyone is also sent to the bathroom before every meal.

We also start the day early with a ginger shot. Since not all children like this slightly spicy shot, everyone gets a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning. At least I have a better feeling when I know that some vitamin C ends up in the child’s body through the juice.
Tips against colds
As already mentioned, the children’s everyday life last winter was characterized by homeschooling and “being at home”. We introduced moving breaks in the yard here. So you could get some fresh air with a little exercise, for example jumping rope. Important to moisten the mucous membranes, which are otherwise exposed to the dry heating air indoors. After lunch we went for a big lap in the field – regardless of the wind and weather. Walk, run, let off steam. I am convinced that exercise and fresh air also protect against colds. Fortunately, the children are currently going to school regularly again and have their breaks at the farm. But the big field trips after homework are now back on the agenda.

Since we actually do the laps in the rain and cold, we snuggle up and stay warm afterwards. Here I would like to emphasize the warm feet! So put on thick socks and drink some hot tea. I serve this with a fruit or raw food plate.

And last but not least, the children can enjoy a warm bath in the evening. To relax the body and soothe irritated respiratory tract, there is a bath with purely herbal ingredients – the Eucabal® children’s bath.

After a walk like this in the freezing cold, a warm bath is good for the children and us adults too. The only important thing for me is the appropriate room temperature in the bathroom. The towels hang over a radiator so that they are preheated. My children really enjoy bathing in the Eucabal® children’s bath with thyme during the cold days.

The children’s bath is a nourishing bath additive with gently scented ingredients. The bath with natural thyme oil soothes irritated respiratory tracts and makes the little ones comfortably tired. It also contains almond oil and is also a pleasant care for sensitive children’s skin.

Last winter – for various reasons – we got through the cold days well and would like to be spared from nasty surprises this time too. That’s why we will also follow the advice shared here and trust our Eucabal® children’s pool. By the way, what is good for the little ones also helps us adults. I have also enjoyed many a bath with the children’s bath after the cold and damp stable time with the horse.

And as a tip, if you do get a cold, we also use the Eucabal® cold balm (required) to rub on your chest and back. This contains eucalyptus and pine needle oil and clears the respiratory tract – which is particularly pleasant when falling asleep in the evening. The children still really enjoy this little massage or cuddle, because in the event of a real cold, being close to mom is, as we all know, the best medicine.
