Welcome to the Advent season! Now at the end of the year I realize how much the last year’s pandemic actually affected me. I think the many challenges and hardships are in our bones. Not only has it been quiet here lately, I’ve also become quieter. I no longer need the big spectacle, I prefer to have natural materials around me and simple but cozy decorations like my Christmas decorations with fir green.

I started a small Christmas wreath workshop and made wreaths with fir greens and pine boughs. The colorful candles are practically the only decoration on my Advent wreath this year.

I had a wonderfully relaxing afternoon, tying the wreaths over tea and listening to a radio play was really relaxing. I used to do such tasks on the side in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but now I consciously take the time for it and so it doesn’t feel like another item on the to-do list at all, but really good!

This is what it looks like now, my Advent wreath 2021, bushy green made of fir and pine. If you are still looking for a last-minute idea for an Advent wreath, take a look at my DIY Advent arrangement in the wooden box for the magazine ERGOimpulse! The advantage of a arrangement is definitely the long shelf life, it will stay fresh throughout Advent.

After two wreaths, I was really going and tied another almost 5m long garland, which is now hanging on our stairs. Hardly any decoration is hanging on it yet, but I think I’ll hang the children’s advent calendar there :).

This is how our dining area looks decorated for Christmas – candles, linen, fir green, that’s all it takes for a cozy Christmas atmosphere, right?
I wish you all a contemplative Advent season, have a good time, switch down a gear and don’t drive yourself crazy with all the Christmas hustle and bustle!
