Healthy Pina Colada Breakfast Smoothie
I love pineapple – whether freshly cut, in the cake or in the smoothie. In the last (once in a lifetime) vacation in the Maldives I literally Virgin Coladas in love – the non -alcoholic variant of the well -known Pina Colada. I preferred to drink it right on the beach, ice cold and wonderfully creamy.
At home I treat myself to this tropical feeling in a healthy form: as a smoothie for breakfast. I deliberately do not use sugar or juice – because mature pineapple and banana naturally bring a wonderful sweetness with you. Instead of coconut milk from the can, I usually use the Coconutrink in Tetrapak – It is significantly lower, but it still tastes delicious.
A little everyday tip from me: I cut my pineapples into pieces right after shopping and keep them in the fridge. So it goes particularly quickly in the morning and I just have to put everything in the mixer.
Ingredients for your pineapple smoothie
✔️ pineapple
The fresh pineapple is the main ingredient. It ensures the fruity taste and naturally releases a lot of sweetness. It is important that the pineapple is ripe – you realize that it smells nicely and can be easily pressed in. If it is too hard, it often tastes angry. I buy them on offer and use the sweet pineapple from Costa Rica.
✔️ banana
The banana makes the smoothie creamy and sweet. The browner the shell, the better for smoothies. You no longer need sugar if you take a well -mature banana. You can also freeze mature banana and then put frozen in the smoothie.
✔️ Coconut drink or coconut milk
The coconut drink is lighter and has less fat. He makes the smoothie nice and fresh. If you like it more creamier and stronger in taste, you can also take coconut milk out of the can. It contains more fat and brings the typical coconut taste even more.
✔️ Lime juice
A little juice of a lime makes the smoothie a little fresher. It brings a light acidity that fits well with the sweetness of pineapple and banana. So the smoothie does not taste too sweet, but nicely balanced.
✔️ Flax seeds or chia seeds (optional)
If you want, you can add a spoon of flax seeds or chia seeds. They make the smoothie a little more filling and deliver fiber. This is good for digestion and gets you full for longer.
✔️ Ice cubes or crushed ice (to taste)
A few ice cubes are great, especially in summer. This makes the smoothie really nice and refreshing. You can also use frozen pineapple pieces or banana – then you don’t need any additional ice.
It’s so easy to do your pineapple smoothie
1️⃣ Peel the pineapple and cut into pieces.
If you have already prepared that – all the better. Then you save time in the morning.
2️⃣ Put all ingredients in the mixer.
Pineapple, banana, coconut drink or coconut milk, lime juice, possibly flax seeds or chia seeds and ice cubes come directly into the mixer.
3️⃣ Puree everything well.
Mix the ingredients until everything is creamy. If the smoothie is too thick for you, add a little more coconut drink or water.
4️⃣ Fill in glasses and enjoy.
The smoothie tastes best fresh and well chilled. Simply a straw in glass and enjoy.
Tips for your smoothie
✔️ Coconutrink or coconut milk – what better suits you?
If you prefer it easier, take coconut drink. It is less fat and brings a mild coconut. I like to use Alpro’s, for example the Barista variant-it tastes good and can be mixed well. If you want it to be creamier and more intense in taste, then coconut milk from the can is the right choice. It has more fat, makes the smoothie particularly creamy for this.
✔️ Sweet enough – without sugar
The pineapple and banana naturally bring enough sweetness. Mature bananas with brown dots on the shell are ideal. You really don’t need an extra sugar – just try it out!
✔️ More nutrients and saturation
A spoon of flax seeds or chia seeds ensures that you are fed up longer. They bring fiber with you, are good for digestion and can be easily stirred. You can also complement protein powder or collagen, for example after sports or if you want a protein -rich breakfast.
✔️ So the smoothie gets really nice and cold
Especially on warm days, the smoothie tastes best chilled. Just put a few ice cubes in the mixer- or take deeply frozen pineapple or banana pieces. This not only makes the smoothie cold, but also particularly creamy.
✔️ Planning ahead saves time in the morning
I mostly cut my pineapples into pieces immediately after shopping and keep them in the fridge. So you don’t have to snip in the morning. You can also pre -cut and freeze mature bananas. So you always have everything at hand when things have to go quickly.
