Ingredients for the UFO cake, including Torten-Träume raspberry mascarpone from the Coppenrath & Wiese confectionery
Instructions: UFO cake for children’s birthday parties
You need:
-
- a finished cake z. B. the cake dreams raspberry mascarpone (Conditorei Coppenrath & Wiese)
-
- approx. 150 g fondant in the color stone gray
-
- approx. 150 g fondant in orange
-
- Glitter powder (e.g. starlight silver saturn)
-
- Silver cake plate or large silver plate
-
- Mason jar as a cake stand base
Instructions – this is how it gets spacey:
An upturned plate serves as a cake platter. Take the frozen cake out of the packaging, place on the plate and allow to thaw almost completely. This allows the moisture to escape so that the fondant adheres better to the dome. Shape the gray fondant into a ball and roll it out into a thin circle. Place the fondant circle on the cake and smooth it all over. Use a pizza roller to cut off the remaining remnants of the fondant so that the cake is smoothly coated with fondant. Using a brush, brush the glitter powder onto the fondant.
For the wing:
Shape the orange fondant into a ball and roll it out into a thin circle. The diameter should be significantly larger than that of the gray coating. Place the styrofoam frame of the cake packaging as a template on the fondant and cut out the inner circle so that the inner dimensions of the wing are determined. Using a pizza cutter, cut the outer edge of the wing so that it is approx. 7 cm wide. Carefully place the fondant surface around the cake.
Also roll out the yellow fondant thinly and cut out 23 stars with the star cutter. Spread the stars all around the wing as an ornament.
For the portholes:
Roll out the blue fondant and cut out 11 portholes. The interior of the zeros is also used. Apply the zeros and the inside alternately around the dome of the cake.
For the starter flames:
Place the cake platter on a mason jar. Use the pizza cutter to cut flames of different sizes from the rest of the fondant and decorate the mason jar with them.
Finally, put the birthday candles in the UFO cake.
