How to bake low carb bread in 3 steps?
- Step 1: Line a baking tray with baking paper and grate the carrot into small pieces. Mix the sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, ground linseed, chopped nuts, sesame, amaranth and salt in a large bowl.
- step 2: Now add the low-fat quark, the finely grated carrot and the egg whites. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and let the dough swell for about 10 minutes. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top/bottom heat (fan oven: 180 degrees).
- step 3: Shape the dough into an oval about 20 cm long and place it on the prepared baking tray. Score the surface of the dough two to three times. Now bake the bread for about 50 minutes. Then let it cool completely on a cake rack. Once the bread has cooled, you can cut it into about 10 slices and enjoy.
What is the best way to store low carb bread?
The low-carb bread should be packed airtight after it has cooled to prevent it from drying out. A resealable plastic bag or airtight box works best. Store the bread in a cool, dry place.
If you want to keep the bread for longer, you can cut it into slices and freeze it in portions. To reheat, use the oven at 180°C for about 5-10 minutes or place in the toaster. This keeps your low carb bread fresh and crispy.
Can you freeze low carb bread?
Yes, low carb bread can be frozen without any problems. It is advisable to cut the bread into slices before freezing and pack it in freezer bags in portions. This means you can defrost only the amount you need when needed, while the rest of the bread stays fresh in the freezer.
When defrosting, you can either let the slices thaw slowly in the refrigerator or warm them briefly in the toaster or oven to restore their freshness and crispness.
